Spice of Life (SOL) was established in 2013 by its founders, David Mutayisa and Hellen Kisita. Having worked with Lions Aid Norway (LAN) for 18 years, they identified a significant service gap that would be created by LAN's planned termination of activities in Uganda at the end of 2013. The organisation was therefore founded to consolidate and continue the interventions previously provided by LAN and foster community development and sustainability.
Sol uses a multi-sectoral approach to support the Government of Uganda and other partners to improve the population's health and well-being.
Spice of Life transforms local needs into lasting solutions across health, education, water and livelihoods. Based in Kampala, we work through community-led projects, practical skills training and strategic partnerships so benefits endure long after a project ends.
Transforming lives in a respectful, meaningful and participatory manner.
We deliver lasting change by partnering with communities and public systems to strengthen health services, expand access to clean water and sanitation, improve school facilities, and boost livelihoods — always designing projects that communities can own and sustain.
A Healthy, Enlightened and Productive Population
A Uganda where every community has the skills, services and infrastructure to thrive without external dependency.
We envision resilient neighbourhoods with functioning schools and clinics, dependable water systems, and economic opportunities that let families plan for the future.
