We believe that our interventions are occasioned by a temporary failure in the normal delivery system. Consequently, that, we are called upon to offer assistance for the duration of the break-down or as is within our capacity to help bridge the gap rather than taking over the mandate of long term provision of the necessary service.
Spice of Life (SoL) therefore works with, through and for the beneficiaries. This requires different levels of engagement right from the Centre (the Government of the Republic of Uganda), through the Local Governments to the Community (beneficiaries). At the Government level political will along with Administrative and Technical Support is crucial and SOL endeavours to harness it.
SoL believes in promoting and supporting good governance and capacity building. So rather than focusing on direct service delivery we support the strengthening of existing service delivery systems. It’s more of “hands off and eyes on”. In short we believe that when we engage the stakeholders in a meaningful partnership it fosters ownership of the intervention / project thereby increasing the chances of its sustainability.
